Instructions for Use  |  ZOOK™ Lineman’s Rope Video (0:24)
  1. Hook one carabiner to the eye loop on the main line and to the D-ring on one side of your harness. If you are right-handed, we recommend the loop on your left D-ring.
  2. Take the other end of the main rope around the tree and attach the second carabiner to the properly configured prusik cord and to the other D-ring on your harness.
  3. Test the function of the prusik hitch before climbing. Pull on it sharply and make certain it positively locks up.
  4. As you climb, keep the rope that goes around the tree close to horizontal and adjust the prusik to keep yourself close to the tree.
  5. Maintain tension on the prusik at all times, even while adjusting your position.
Prusik Instructions  |  How to Tie a Prusik

If the prusik cord needs to be installed or re-installed on the main rope, follow these instructions carefully:

    1. Start with the knotted end of the prusik cord in your right hand and the other end in your left hand with the main line on top of, and perpendicular to the prusik cord.
    2. Take the knotted end of the prusik cord over top of the main line and pass it through the open loop of the other end of the prusik cord. Pull it back under the main line so it ends up back on the right side. This completes one wrap.
    3. Make a second wrap inside the first by taking the knotted end over the top of the main line again, passing it through the open looped end of the prusik and back under the main line. Your second wrap should be inside the first wrap.
    4. Make a third wrap inside the second in the same way. Take the knotted end over the main line and pass through the open looped end in your left hand.
    5. Make sure to tighten all the wraps and move them close together for the hitch to function properly.
    6. Hook your carabiner to your harness and to the knotted end of the prusik cord.
    7. Be sure to test the function of the prusik hitch by pulling sharply on it. If it doesn’t positively lock up when pressure is applied, DO NOT USE. Refer to our instructional video for further instructions.
