Description
Our premium 100% polyester rope is a balanced 4 stage construction rope offering durability, excellent strength and very low stretch. Our polyester rope is soft and easy handling with a medium lay for simple splicing. These qualities make it a go-to for decorative rope for nautical themed deck and dock handrails.
Polyester will generally outlast all other fibers including nylon and polypropylene. It has excellent resistance to UV sunlight degradation, abrasion, chemicals, petroleum products, mold, mildew and marine growth. Polyester has great dielectric properties and can be used in almost any application. It is the heaviest of all the synthetic fibers available which makes it an excellent battle rope for undulation exercise. Our 3 strand polyester is an economical choice for applications where high strength and low stretch are required.
There are a lot of polyester ropes on the market that are blended with polypropylene to make them lighter and less expensive. If you prefer, we sell “polyester combo rope” as a less expensive alternative to this 100% polyester rope.
Should I buy nylon or polyester?
There are some differences between polyester and nylon. Polyester has better abrasion resistance and UV resistance than nylon as well as much less elasticity. If you need a low stretch, durable rope, go with this polyester.
Nylon is slightly stronger, but is much more elastic or given to stretch. This can be an advantage or disadvantage depending on your application. If you need a high-stretch rope go with 3 Strand Nylon, not this polyester.
Polyester absorbs very little water compared to other fibers like nylon or Manila, and only has slight loss of strength when wet.
