Description

Our premium, three strand twisted, 100% nylon rope is a balanced, 4 stage construction rope offering excellent weather resistance, strength and elasticity. Our 3 strand twisted nylon rope is 100% nylon for the highest strength, durability, and longevity. Our nylon rope is soft and easy handling with a medium lay for easy splicing. Nylon is the most popular synthetic fiber for rope and cord due to its elasticity and strength.

Nylon has great UV resistance and abrasion resistance. It resists marine growth, rot, mildew, chemicals, petroleum products, and ultraviolet degradation, making it a great choice for outdoor use. Nylon rope is best suited for applications where the ability to stretch and very high strength is required. This is especially important for marine applications such as anchor lines and dock lines where the ability to withstand shock loading will prevent damage to your property. Most nylon ropes available today are a blend of nylon and polypropylene, making them much less expensive. Blended nylon ropes are not as strong, and don’t last as long. These ropes are 100% nylon and offer the greatest durability and longevity.

Should I buy nylon or polyester?

Nylon is slightly stronger, and much more elastic or given to stretch than polyester. This can be an advantage or disadvantage depending on your application. If you need a high-stretch rope go with this nylon.

Polyester has better abrasion resistance and UV resistance than nylon, but much less elasticity. If you need a low stretch, durable rope, go with 3 Strand Polyester instead of this nylon.

Our nylon has a melting point of about 490 degrees Fahrenheit, and starts to lose strength at around 240 degrees Fahrenheit. Nylon rope can shrink around 10% when wet and also lose around 10% of its strength. Please take this into consideration when ordering.

Twisted Nylon Rope
We purchased this rope to use to remove the cover on our baptistry at church. It glides thru several stainless steel pulleys, however, it has only been used about 6 times and is starting to show wear by fraying. We don't want to use the poly rope but are disappointed in the quality of the nylon.
Reply:
Hello Jane, we're sorry to hear about the fraying issue with the rope! It certainly shouldn't do that in the situation you described. Please contact our customer service team and we will gladly replace it.

Twisted Nylon Rope
Rope looks nice, feels nice and tight, splices very nicely. (Outer box arrived looking like shipper had played soccer with it for a while, taped it up and played soccer with it some more, but no matter, the rope itself arrived in perfect, clean, condition.)

The rope does splice easily, as described in the video. The construction is a harder lay (versus other nylon 3 strand ropes I have worked with), which contributes to the ease in splicing. Nylon rope often has a softer lay, which means the yarns which make up the strands will unravel and untwist during splicing. This rope's harder lay made it easier to keep the individual strands twisted and neat while splicing. The individual yarns in the strand would still unlay, but it was easier to keep them together and neat. Not sure this makes a better or stronger splice, but it certainly improves the appearance of the splice.
