Description
Our durable, solid braided polyester rope makes a great rope for many outdoor uses. Our solid braids are made from 100% polyester fibers braided in a lock-stitch design to keep it from unraveling. This round, firm cord is flexible, ties and knots well, and stretches very little compared to solid braid nylon. Solid braid rope is superior in some ways to a 3 strand twisted rope since it is torque free and smoother over pulleys and other surfaces.
This polyester cord is great for many industrial applications where a small diameter, high-strength, low-stretch cordage is required. Our solid braid polyester rope has excellent resistance to abrasion, UV degradation, rot, mildew and most chemicals. Standard colors are white, black. Many other colors are available but may require lead times or minimums.
If you are looking for a polyester flagpole halyard this rope will work great. Sizes ¼”, 5/16”, and ⅜” are the most common sizes for flags. To determine the right length of rope for your flagpole, simply double the height of your flagpole. It is always a good idea to order a few extra feet. We also sell a Wire Center Solid Braid Polyester that you may want to consider. The wire center rope is firmer with less stretch and is useful for preventing vandalism and theft.
Should I buy polyester or nylon?
Trying to decide -- polyester vs nylon? There are some differences between polyester and nylon. If you need a low stretch, durable rope, go with this polyester. Polyester has better abrasion resistance and UV resistance than nylon as well as much less elasticity.
Nylon is slightly stronger, but is much more elastic or given to stretch. This can be an advantage or disadvantage depending on your application. If you need a high-stretch rope go with Solid Braid Nylon, not this polyester.
Another point to note, polyester absorbs very little water compared to other fibers like nylon or Manila, and only has slight loss of strength when wet.
