Polypropylene rope is the cheapest and most common rope in use today. When you just need “a rope”, and cost is the most important consideration, this is it.

Polypropylene is a good general use rope when there aren’t any critical requirements. This type of rope is used in a wide variety of applications and is usually the first thing people think of when they think ‘rope’. It has moderate strength, moderate stretch and moderate abrasion resistance.

Polypropylene rope is UV resistant, floats in water, doesn’t rot, and is resistant to most chemicals, petroleum products and mildew. It is a medium lay rope that can be spliced. Our split film poly knots well and has good holding power. Polypropylene doesn’t absorb water and can be stored wet indefinitely without damage.

Uses

  • General utility
  • Barrier rope
  • Cargo control

More Options

Since the polypropylene market is driven by price alone, the quality and care in production has gone down over the years. We have narrowed down and chosen one of the best manufacturers for our polypropylene and the quality is better than most we have seen. That said, all twisted polypro ropes are made toward the lower end of the Cordage Institute Specifications and tend to be slightly undersized.

Our three-strand polypropylene rope is a split film construction and makes for a better handling, better tying rope than mono-filament construction. While polypropylene is a good general use rope, consider some other options if your application requires higher strength or needs to last longer. Some other great options are High Tenacity Polypropylene or Polyester Combo Rope (Pictured).

Price Hacks

You can order 3 strand twisted polypropylene rope by the foot in any length you want. Consider these ways you can place your order to save money.

Incremental Pricing

There are price breaks you can take advantage of by buying in the increments outlined above. For example, buying a 100’ piece is a much better price per foot than buying 98’ by the foot. Consider rounding up to the next incremental pricing bracket to save yourself some money.

Combining Incremental Pricing and ‘By the Foot’

You can also save money by buying an even increment plus a few feet by the foot.

Example 1: If you need 117’ in one continuous piece you can add two items to your cart, a 100’ increment and quantity ‘17’ by the foot. We can send you the 117’ piece in one continuous length. Just leave us a note during checkout about how you want your rope cut.

Example 2: If you need two pieces 60’ each, the best way to buy it would be to add two items to your cart, a 100’ increment and quantity ‘20’ by the foot. Just leave a note letting us know you want two 60’ pieces.
